What clients do I serve?
My clients have ranged in age from 12 to over 70 years old. I am mindful of ethnic, gender, lifestyle and disability differences. I have worked with clients from different countries, varying lifestyles, with individuals and with families.
What counseling techniques do I use?
I am experienced in counseling using a variety of methods, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution focused therapy, ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy), and mindfulness to help clients with mental health issues and navigate through various life transitions. I have trained in ERP (Exposure Response Prevention) to treat OCD.
What is CBT?
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is directed at helping a person look at his or her current problems and how to solve them. This is an active process where both patient and therapist work together. The cognitive part is where the therapist shows the patient how to identify and look thoughts and beliefs that are unhelpful. In recognizing these, the patient can then modify them in order to change behaviors, and lead a healthier life. CBT has been used to treat many specific mental disorders and addictions.
